Ravindra Patil – Salman Khan Hit & Run case – The Wretched Witness

July 8, 2013

Everybody knows that one person was killed and four others were injured when an inebriated Salman Khan rammed his Landcruiser onto the steps of A1 Bakery at the turning near Mehboob Studios in Bandra in the wee hours of September 28, 2002.

But perhaps we don’t remember that the incident claimed one more life later. In the course of the case another strapping young man died a slow but painful death on the cold floors of a government hospital at Sewri in Mumbai. He had nobody from his family around during his final hours.

Such was the misfortune of this man that nobody from his family even came forward to claim the body immediately after his death. They were not even aware that he had died.

The handsome young man was reduced to a bag of bones (more…)

In India, the testimony of the prime witness is considered the most important document in a criminal case, which often influences the final verdict.

In the 2002 hit-and-run case of Salman Khan, the man who found himself in the epicenter of the controversy, was the prime witness of the case — constable Ravindra Patil.

Those close to Patil admitted that he was under enormous pressure to change his statement.

There were many who wanted Patil to change his statement. They preferred that Patil maintain that Salman leaned back to listen to him seconds before he lost control of the wheel. This would mean that the accident was caused by a ‘human error’ and not because he was drunk. (more…)

Chinese copy machine duplicates Indian Bike

January 11, 2006

IndiaTimes is reporting that a Chinese company has duplicated Bajaj-Pulsar, an Indian Motor Bike and is selling them in Latin America under the brand, Gulsar. India is the larget manufacturer of MotorBikes in the world. It is now becoming apparent that upto half of Chinese manufacturing facilities don’t respect IP rights and hence can claim to be a low cost manufacturer in the world. Earlier I reported that Huawei, a major telecom giant has violtaed laws in almost all the countries. Uncle Sam prefers to be a silent observer while China takesover the American economy, can India afford to sit quiet ? Can Rahul Bajaj make his case and win against China ? Looking at Rahul’s track record, he was protected by various Indian governments for over 20 years before liberalisation and he surely lacks the acumen of a global businessman.

Mr. Failure President, Free Iraq or China ?

January 9, 2006

Mr. Failure President of the United States of America, you should be thinking of China the next time when you address the nation with constitutional words like Democracy, Freedom and Speech. IHT reports that New York Times Research Assistant, Zhao Jing’s( online alias An Ti. Zhao) blog on MSN Spaces was pulled down by Microsoft under pressure from the Chinese government. Zhao Jing’s new blogs is available here.

It is very unfortunate that a company like Microsoft bowed down to the Chinese order(they hardly request). If you have forgotten, Microsoft in the US was the only American corporate to support gay rights openly in the state of WA. Obviously, Microsoft knows that Uncle Sam won’t intervene in its support. But why is Uncle Sam afraid of China ? Bowing down to their order is sending a wrong signal – Beijing is more powerful than Washington ?
