Google Base to Classifieds

Google has silently acquired two reserach based entities of Dr. Alon Halevy; EveryClassified.com and Transformic.com which are involved in Database reserach in a hetrogeneous environment(structure and non-structured from multiple sources for deep web search). If you enroll in Dr. Alon’s DBMS course which he taught @ University of Washington, one of the projects that you are required to implement as part of your course work is very similar to what is described above.

Google has also hired Alon’s software Architect, Dr. Jayant.I checked the “whois” informaiton on both the domain names and both resolve to Google Inc. Also Dr Alon mentions on his homepage that he is currently on leave and is working at Google Inc.

So can we very soon expect an exclusive classifieds website ? Oho! Yea, anything is possible with Google.
